Normal role description: EBAG9 is a tumor-associated antigen that inhibits the growth and induced apoptosis of immune cells; therefore, enbling cancer cells to evade the immune system. Is over-expressed in many human cancers, such as: breast, female-genital, gastrointestinal, blood, lung, pancreas, liver, renal, billiary-tract, hepatic, prostate, thyroid, gall bladder, and brain cancer. It is a unusual oncoprotein in that it induces cell death, though not in the cancer cell itself.
