Normal role description: | CFLAR has close homology to Caspase 8 but lacks caspase catalytic activity. Thus, CFLAR functions as a competitive inhibitor of the caspase pathway. CFLAR will therefore block Fas- and TNF-a mediate cell apoptosis. Howoever, some mutant variants have demonstrated oposite effect and trigger apoptosis. |
