Normal role description: | ADAM12 is a disintegrin and a metalloprotease. It cleaves grow-factor binding proteins (IGFBP-3 and IGFBP-5) as well as heparin-bound EGF binding proteins. The cleavage of binding proteins leads to upregulation of cellular growth factor pathways, inhibition of apoptosis, and increased tumour proliferation. |
