Normal role description: SNCG plays a role in neurofilament network integrity and modulates axonal architecture during development, and may partake in keratin maintenance in skin. It promotes the degradation of neurofilament-H by calcium-dependent proteases. It can also take part in signalling and activate the MAPK/ELK-1 pathway. Mutations and overexpression have been associated with breast tumour development and metastasis.
