Normal role description: | TNFSF15 is a cytokine secreted by endothelial cells. TNFSF15 will activated a receptor TNFRSF25 to activate MAPK p38 and JNK signalling pathways. TNFSF15 was found to induce apoptosis in proliferating endothelial cells and inhibit angiogenesis. TNFSF15 is also found to mediate immune responses through T-cell activation. TNFSF15 has been suggested to act as a tumour suppressor protein due to its proapoptotic and antiproliferative effects on endothelial cell growth. Injection of TNFSF15 in colon cancer and breast cancer models was shown to suppress tumour growth thus support a tumour suppressor role for TNFSF15. |
