Normal role description: | PYY is secreted peptide involved in inhibition of pancreatic secretions, gastric secretions and food uptake by gut epithelium. PYY is also thought to act on the hypothalamus to signal satiety. Loss of PYY expression has been observed in colon, pancreatic and breast cancer. PYY is thought to exert these effects by reducing intracellular cAMP levels to inhibit PKA mediated cell proliferation and growth. |
