Normal role description: | TPR is a coiled-coil protein that forms intranuclear filaments attached to the inner surface of nuclear pore complexes, and interacts directly with several components of the complex. It is required for the nuclear export of mRNAs and some proteins. Oncogenic fusions of the 5' end of the gene with several different kinase genes have been observed in some neoplasias such as thyroid papillary carcinoma and gastric cancer. |
Commentary on involvement of protein in cancer: | 1/45 CNS tumour samples was also mutated. Only 1 liver-, 2 ovarian, and 2 bladder tumour samples were included in Sanger COSMIC. *Note: Chromosome location = 1q31.1 according to OMIM |
