Normal role description: | ERBB3 is a receptor tyrosine-protein kinase and a member of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) family. It will bind neuroligin ligand, but it lacks an active kinase domain; however, it will heterodimerize with EGFRs that do have kinase activity. Upregulation of this gene has been reported in numerous cancers. |
Commentary on involvement of protein in cancer: | Binds and is activated by neuregulins and NTAK. |
