Cancer Protein Description

This report provides a detailed description of a selected cancer protein with information collected from various sources, including UniProt, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute’s Catalogue of Somatic Mutations in Cancer (COSMIC), and the Atlas of Genetics and Cytogenetics in Oncology and Haematology.

Protein Name: LMO1
Gene Name: LMO1
Protein Full Name: Rhombotin-1
Alias: Cysteine-rich protein TTG-1; LIM domain only protein 1; RBTN1; RHOM; T-cell translocation protein 1; TTG1
Mass (Da): 17828
Number AA: 156
UniProt ID: P25800
Locus ID: 4004
COSMIC ID: LMO1
Gene location on chromosome: 11p15.4
Cancer protein type: OP/TSP
Effect of cancer mutation on protein: UNCLEAR
Effect of active protein on cancer: MIXED
Number of cancer specimens: 20237
Percent of cancer specimens with mutations: 0.12
Deregulated in translocations: T-cell acute leukemia with the chromosomal translocation t(11;14)(p15;q11) LMO1/TCRD
Normal role description: Transcription factor mostly found in neuronal tissue. A-allele SNP LMO1 gene, rs110419 (A/G) upregulates LMO1 expression and positively correlates with neuroblastoma development. Conversely, LMO1 upregulation via TGF-beta signalling in gastric epithelial cells promotes apoptosis.
