Normal role description: | MAP4 is a microtubule associated protein involved in promoting microtubule polymerization and stabilization during the cell cycle. MAP4 activity is mediated through phosphorylation by protein kinase p34cdc2.A translocation event at the MAP4 locus which leads to a fusion protein with MALT1 has been implicated in the development of Diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (DLBCL). As MAP4 is an important protein in regulating the cell cycle it may have a role in cancer development. MAP4 mutations in cancer are not well characterized functionally. |
