Normal role description: | EPHA8 is a receptor-tyrosine kinase that is activated upon binding ephrins, which are GPI-anchored on neighbouring cells. Activation of the receptor may regulate integrin-mediated cell adhesion, migration, and neurite outgrowth. It plays a large role during the development of the nervous system. Various missense mutations have been associated with malignancies such as breast cancer, gastric adenocarcinoma, lung adenocarcinoma, and metastatic melanoma. |
