Cancer Protein Description

This report provides a detailed description of a selected cancer protein with information collected from various sources, including UniProt, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute’s Catalogue of Somatic Mutations in Cancer (COSMIC), and the Atlas of Genetics and Cytogenetics in Oncology and Haematology.

Protein Name: CNR2
Gene Name: CNR2
Protein Full Name: Cannabinoid receptor 2
Alias: CX5
Mass (Da): 39681
Number AA: 360
UniProt ID: P34972
Locus ID: 1269
COSMIC ID: CNR2
Gene location on chromosome: 1p36.11
Cancer protein type: TSP

Normal role description: CNR2 is a GPRC. A ligand of this receptor is cannabinoid delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. It is involved with inhibition of adenylate cyclase as well as affecting mood and cognition. It may also play a role in inflammatory response, nociceptive transmission and bone homeostasis. Other roles include signal transduction, regulation of cell fate, inhibition of vascular endothelial cell migration and downregulation of MMP2.
