Normal role description: | FUS is a RNA-binding protein that is a component of the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) complex which is involved in pre-mRNA splicing and transport of processed mRNA to the cytoplasm. Other RNA-binding proteins of its kind (part of the FET family) are known to play roles in regulation of gene expression, maintenace of genomic integrity, and mRNA and microRNA processing. A K312Q mutation has been associated in a breast cancer sample. Several translocations have been reported and implicated in angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma, fibromyxoid sarcoma, myxoid liposarcoma, and acute myeloid leukemia. |
