Mass (Da): 37823
Number AA: 353
UniProt ID: P40225
Locus ID: 7066
COSMIC ID: THPO
Gene location on chromosome: 3q27.1
Number of cancer specimens: 19625
Percent of cancer specimens with mutations: 0.37
Normal role description: THBS3 is a extracellular glycoprotein which mediates cell-cell and cell-extracellular interactions. THBS3 forms a pentameric structure which are held together by inter chain disulphide linkages. Primarily mis-sense mutations of THBS3 have been detected in cancer, however these have been characterized functionally. Due to THBS3's role in promoting cell adhesion and mediating cell-cell contact dysfunction of THBS3 may contribute to increased metastasis of cancer.
