Cancer Protein Description
This report provides a detailed description of a selected cancer protein with information collected from various sources, including UniProt, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute’s Catalogue of Somatic Mutations in Cancer (COSMIC), and the Atlas of Genetics and Cytogenetics in Oncology and Haematology.

Deregulated in translocations: | t(5;8)(p13;q12): PLAG1-LIFR in pleiomorphic adenomas |
Normal role description: | Forms heterodimeric receptors with IL6ST. The soluble form inhibits the biological activity of LIF by blocking its binding to receptors on target cells. Signal transduction activates JAK/STAT and MAPK pathways. Expressed in apncreatic carcinoma and pituitary adenomas. Decreased levels of LIFR in neuroblastoma. Associated with chemosensitivity in glioblastoma multiforme. |
