| Normal role description: | IER3 is a growth and stress early response protein. It is found to regulate growth and proliferation pathways and apoptosis. Protein phosphatase inhibitor. May play a role in the ERK signalling pathway by inhibiting the dephosphorylation of ERK by phosphatase PP2A-PPP2R5C holoenzyme. Depending on cell type and context, it can provide be pro- or anti-apoptotic as well delaying or promoting cell cycle progression. |
