Normal role description: | This phospholipase is activated by increases in intracellular calcium. It generates free-fatty acids such as arachidonic acid by cleaving phosphatidylcholine. These are all considered second and third messengers in cellular signalling. Upregulation of PLA2G4A has been demonstrated in many cancer systems. Oncogenesis mediated through increased COX-2 angiogenesis, PPARdelta signalling, and PGE2 signalling. |
