Normal role description: | PDX1 is a transcription factor involved in activation of insulin, somatostatin, glucokinase, islet amyloid polypeptide, and glucose trnasporter type 2 transcription, particularly in glucose-dependent regulation of insulin transcription. Due to its involvement with growth factor transcription, it is likely an proto-oncogene, but its exact function in cancer has not been determined. Its expression has been noted to be elevated in various cancers such as pancreatic, breast, prostate, colorectal, kidney, and gastric cancers. |
