Normal role description: | SPINK7 is a membrane localized protein involved in the inhibition of trypsin-like serine proteases. SPINK7 has found to be expressed in liver, lung, esophagus and lung tissues. Complete loss of SPINK7 expression has been implicated in the development of metastatic esophageal cancers. SPINK7 may function to inhibit extracellular proteases to prevent metastasis of tumours. No mutations of SPINK7 have been identified to indicate deletion or silencing mutations. This would classify SPINK7 as a putative tumour suppressor protein. |
