Normal role description: | HNRNPK is a pre-mRNA-binding protein that binds to poly-C sequences on RNA and ssDNA. It plays a role in the nuclear metabolism of heterogeneous nuclear RNAs, especially those pre-mRNAs with cytidine-rich sequences. It may function to influence pre-mRNA processing, metabolism and transport. Evidence suggests it may also have a role in cell cycle progression, and accumulation of HNRNPK was associated with cell migration and metastasis. Higher expressions have been noted in esophageal cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. |
