Normal role description: | GNB2L1 inhibits Src family kinases, stabilizes activated PKC, and interacts with many other proteins. May act as an adapter protein for a variety of proteins, including those of central cellular pathways in cell growth, migration and apoptosis. Involved in different functions in the nervous system. Promotes apoptosis by disrupting BAX interaction with BCL2L and BAX oligomerization. Hoewever upregulated expression of GNB2L1 was reported to inhibit apoptosis in lymphocytes. Shown to be upregulated during tumour angiogenesis. |
Commentary on involvement of protein in cancer: | No mutations have been reported on the Atlas of Genetics in Oncology or the SANGER COSMIC database. |
