Normal role description: POU4F1 is a transcriptional regulator involved in cell fate determination, differentiation of neuronal cells, generation of proprioceptors in trigeminal ganglia, induce cell cycle arrest, regulate p53 activity, promote surivavl signals and down regulate pro-apoptotic signals. It can also activate HPV E6/E7 protein. It is overexpressed in many cancers and prevents apoptosis and promotes survival of tumours.
