Normal role description: RELA is a transcription factor also known as NF-kB p65 subunit. The NF-kB/p65 has been shown to be constitutively activated in prostate adenocarcinomas and may promote tumour progression by upregulating the transcription of NF-kB target genes and promoting anti-apoptosis activity. A t(11;14)(q14;q32) translocation involving p65 gene rearrangement has been described in lymphoproliferative disporders. Gene amplification has also been observed in squamous carcinomas of head and neck as well as breast and stomach adenocarcinomas.
