Normal role description: | STK3 is a serine/threonine kinase that is induced by stress to carry out pro-apoptotic signalling. Once STK3 is activated by caspase-cleavage, it enters the nucleus where it then induces chromatin condensation followed by inter-nucleosomal DNA-fragmentation.STK3 also play a critical role in controlling organ size and tumors suppression by inhibiting proliferation and promoting apoptosis. Mutations in this gene have been observed in head and neck (pharynx) cancer. |
