Normal role description: MPP3 is a membrane associated protein that contains a SH3 domain. MPP3 is known to interact with 5-HT4R (serotonin receptor), which upon 5HT binding induces the production of cAMP. This would results in increased activation of CREB by PKA, and as CREB induces transcription of Myc, thus MPP3 could act as an oncoprotein.
Commentary on involvement of protein in cancer: May interact with HTR2A By similarity. Interacts (via PDZ domain) with CADM1 (via C-terminus). Interacts with HTR4
