Normal role description: | Interacts with many proteins involved in cellular signalling including p130Cas, Crk, Crk-L, Grb2, Hck, PDGF, Cas-L, Shc, Rap1, c-Abl, PP2A and E-cadherin. RAPGEF1 has a variety of different cellular outcomes depending on interaction partners. For example, RAPGEF1 inhibits the ERK signalling pathway but has also been shown to activate members of the Ras superfamily and also interact with c-abl. RAPGEF1 induces p21 cell-cycle arrest. Therefore, it can be speculated that this protein possess both pro- and anti- oncogenic proteins depending on which signalling pathways predominate. |
