Normal role description: NTRK2 is a receptor-tyrosine kinase that is activated upon binding neurotropin 3. Active NTRK2 leads to the activation of MAPK, PI3K, and mTOR pathways, which supports tumour deveoplment and metastasis. In malignant neoplasms, overexpression of NTRK2 enhances angiogenesis and invasive potential by upregulating VEGF and matrix proteases. Mutations in this gene have been linked to kidney, colon, pancreatic, lung, and skin tumors.
