Normal role description: | AGPAT9 converts gylcerol-3-phosphate to lysophosphatidic acid for gylcolipid biosynthesis. This reaction is an essential initial step for de novo synthesis of triacylglycerides. This is overexpressed in many cancers leading to altered glycolipid synthesis which can alter cell signalling in favor of cancer progression. |
