Cancer Protein Description

This report provides a detailed description of a selected cancer protein with information collected from various sources, including UniProt, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute’s Catalogue of Somatic Mutations in Cancer (COSMIC), and the Atlas of Genetics and Cytogenetics in Oncology and Haematology.

Protein Name: Net1
Gene Name: NET1
Protein Full Name: Neuroepithelial cell-transforming gene 1 protein
Alias: ARHG8; ARHGEF8; NET1A; neuroepithelial cell transforming 1; Neuroepithelial cell transforming gene 1 protein; p65 Net1 proto- oncogene; Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor 8
Mass (Da): 67740
Number AA: 596
UniProt ID: Q7Z628

Normal role description: NET1 is a guanine nucleotide exchange factor for RhoA GTPase. In cancer, upregulatin induces RhoA activities including cytoskeletal rearrangements and cell migration thus promoting invasive behavior of gastric cancer. May also be involved in activation of JNK pathway to induce RhoB-mediated cell death during stress in breast cancer.
