Normal role description: LDB1 regulates the transcription activity of various transcription factors containing the LIM domain by acting as an adaptor protein. Together with LMO, it is involved in the regulation of erythrocyte development and maintains erythroid precursors in an immature state. LDB1 is often found to be overexpressed in invasive oral squamous cell carcinoma. A R299Q mutation was associated with a colorectal cancer sample.
