Normal role description: | WWC1 is regulatory protein found to interact many proteins through WW domains. WWC1 interacts with the protein kinase M zeta (PKM-zeta) isoform of Protein kinase C zeta. This protein may also have a role in organ development through regulating the hippo signalling pathway. WWC1 promotes phosphorylation of hippo pathway effectors LATS1/LATS2. WWC1 has been found to be expressed in breast cancer cell lines. WWC1 may mediate estrogen receptor transactivation in cancer by recruit to histone H3. |
Commentary on involvement of protein in cancer: | Less than 3% mutations in breast. |
