Alias: CKBBP2; CKII beta binding protein 2; CR6 interacting factor 1; CRIF1; G45IP; Growth arrest and DNA-damage-inducible proteins-interactin; Growth arrest and DNA-damage-inducible, gamma interacting protein 1; MGC4667; MGC4758; P53-responsive gene 6; Papillomavirus L2 interacting nuclear protein 1; Plinp1; PLINP-1; PRG6
Mass (Da): 25384
Number AA: 222
UniProt ID: Q8TAE8
Locus ID: 90480
COSMIC ID: GADD45GIP1
Gene location on chromosome: 19p13.13
Cancer protein type: TSP
Effect of cancer mutation on protein: LOSS
Effect of active protein on cancer: INHIBITS

Normal role description: GADD45GIP is a negative regulator of cell cycle. It inhibits cdc2-cyclin b1 kinase and histone H1 kinase. It suppreses G1 to S phase cell cycle progression. In cancers, it is found downregulated allowing for uncontrolled progression through cell cycle.
