Normal role description: PREX1 is a RAC guanine nucleotide exchange factor which can activate Rac proteins by facilitating GTP exchange. Due to its role in the activation of this pathway, PREX1 may promote cell migration and tumour metastasis, but its mechanism of action has not been elucidated. Its activity can be synergistically activated by PIP3 and beta-gamma subunits of heterotrimeric G proteins.
