Normal role description: LPAR1 is a G-protein coupled receptor for lysophatidic acid, a potent lipid derived mitogen which promotes cell proliferation. LPAR1 will associate with Gi, Gq or G 12/13, G alpha proteins as signal amplifiers. Due to LPAR1 role in activating cell abberant expression of LPAR1 have been implicated in various cancers through unregulated signalling. LPAR1 may also have a role in promoting metastasis of certain cancers.
