Normal role description: | Receptor related to Notch. It is implicated in cell fate determination, differentiation, proliferaion, apoptosis, vascular devleopment, renal development and hepatic development. Upon ligand binding the released intracellular portion forms a transcription activator complex to regulate gene expression for the mentioned roles above. Overexpression of notch signalling has been implicated in invasive breast cancer and in breast cancer stem cells and is important for uncontrolled growth and development of cancer. |
