Normal role description: | S100A13 is a calcium-binding protein that plays a role in the export of proteins without a signalling peptide via an alternative pathway. It may be involved in cell cycle progression and differentiation similar to other family members. It is a marker of active angiogenesis in some tumors and may promote FGF1 and IL-1alpha secretion during intracellular stress conditions. It is overexpressed in lung cancer, endometriosis, and glioblastoma. |
