Normal role description: | NKX3-1 is a transcription factor that preferentially binds to the consensus sequence: 5'-TAAGT[AG]-3', and act as a repressor. NKX3-1 is thought to be putative prostate tumour suppressor that is expressed in a largely prostate-specific and androgen-regulated manner. Downregulation or complete loss of NKX3-1 expression is a common in prostate carcinomas and prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia. |
