Normal role description: ANLN is an actin binding protein that localizes to the cellular membrane and nucleus. It plays a critical role in the formation of the cleavage furrow during cytokinesis by assembling the actin and myosin contractile ring. It has also been involved in the breakdown of the nuclear envelope and cell cycle progression. In cancer, overexpression of ANLN is implicated in stimulating growth pathways via RHOA and cell division.
