Normal role description: TOPORS is a E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that has decreases cell proliferation and apoptosis by increasing p53/TP53 stability through ubiquitin-dependent degradation of its inhibitors. It may also induce apoptosis following DNA damage through IKBKE sumoylation. Expression is commonly decreased in colon and lung cancers, and loss of heterozygosity is also associated with different malignancies.
