Normal role description: | Stress activated and proapoptotic member of the MAPKKK family. Regulates the JNK and p38 pathways. Involved in regulation of S and G2 cell cycle checkpoints by direct phosphorylation of CHEK2. MLTK Isoform 1 causes cell shrinkage and disruption of actin stress fibers and phosphorylates histone H3 (Ser-28). It was suggested to play a role in cell transformation and oncogenesis. |
