| Normal role description: | TRIM33 acts as an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that promotes SMAD4 ubiquitination, nuclear exclusion and degradation via the ubiquitin proteasome pathway. It may also act as a transcriptional repressor by inhibiting the transcriptional response to the TGFβ/BMP signalling cascade. Furthermore, it plays a role in the control of cell proliferation, and stimulates erythroid differentiation of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells via its association with SMAD2 and SMAD3. |
