Normal role description: CNTN6 is a contactin adhesion protein, part of the immunoglobulin superfamily, that mediates cell surface interactions, especially during nervous system development. It is anchored to the membrane through glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchoring. It can also act as a ligand for NOTCH1, promoting its activation and release of its intracellular domain for translocation to the nucleus. T108A and S585C mutations have been found in breast cancer samples.
