Cancer Protein Description
This report provides a detailed description of a selected cancer protein with information collected from various sources, including UniProt, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute’s Catalogue of Somatic Mutations in Cancer (COSMIC), and the Atlas of Genetics and Cytogenetics in Oncology and Haematology.

Normal role description: | CLCA2 modulates Cl- currents across the plasma membrane in a Ca2+-dependent manner. It is involved in basal cell adhesion and stratification of squamous epithelia, and in cell adhesion in the early stages of lung metastasis via its binding to ITGB4. In breast and colorectal cancers however, it may act as a tumour suppressor protein. |
